Time Out Food & Drink Awards 2022 winners announced

Twenty-three bars and restaurants across Melbourne and Sydney have won gongs in the Time Out Food & Drink Awards

Melbourne Filipino restaurant Serai and Sydney Middle Eastern restaurant Aalia are the top restaurant winners in Time Out Australia’s Food & Drink Awards, announced online on Friday October 14.

Serai was named both Melbourne’s Best Casual Dining Venue and the city’s Restaurant of the Year. Aalia won the award for Best Fine Dining Restaurant and Restaurant of the Year for Sydney.

Meanwhile, Time Out critics crowned wine bars as their Bar of the Year in both cities: Public Wine Shop in Melbourne and Paski Vineria Popolare in Sydney.

Presented in partnership with Tyro, the Food & Drink Awards signal the return of Time Out’s critically starred reviews, which have been given out to bars, restaurants, pubs and cafés in Sydney since 2007 and Melbourne since 2011, and were paused for two years due to Covid. 

In addition to the critically judged awards, four People’s Choice awards were given out in each city, with nearly 6,000 readers voting for their favourite restaurant, café, bar and pub. In total, 14 awards were given to Melbourne venues and 13 to Sydney venues. 

Winners will receive their trophies at exclusive dinner events in the two cities.
