What do you do all day at Time Out?
I get my mitts on all things food and booze. I create and edit content so our readers have the most up-to-date information on new venues and delicious things to eat.
With Sydney currently under lockdown, how are you making the most of your time at home?
I’m revisiting my wine training – that is, wine is getting me through. Between taking on a new job, wrangling a toddler, and trying to maintain my sanity, I’m watching a lot of crappy TV and enjoying a lot of good booze.
What made you join Time Out?
Time Out is an authority on all things good happening in Sydney. The chance to eat and drink professionally? Who wouldn’t jump at that! Most importantly, I appreciate the endless hours and skill that goes into creating a dream venue, and I want to honour that by taking the time to really appreciate our hospitality scene.
What international destination will be your first to visit when the border restrictions ease?
I’ll be on the first plane to New Zealand! My partner’s family lives there and since our last visit, I’ve gotten two new nephews (with a third on the way) and my mother-in-law has kicked cancer’s arse – I want to go and celebrate!
Favourite bar, restaurant, neighbourhood in Sydney?
Yikes! That’s a tricky one. Favourite bar – I love Pincer Bar at Hubert’s. Restaurant – Marigold Yum Cha. Neighbourhood – always Newtown.
Do you have a personal motto?
Relax, it’s only chaos.
A good story should have?
A good story needs to take you somewhere. If you can’t see yourself having a drink or digging into a plate of something delicious after work or on a date, et cetera, then we haven’t done our job.
Top tips for how to get featured on Time Out?
Keep it fresh! If you’re pitching an idea, make sure it’s something that we haven’t seen before – if you’ve got an inside scoop on a new restaurant or bar opening then we want to know about it. If it’s not new, make sure it’s interesting and relevant.
Plans in Sydney once the restrictions lift?
I just want to host a dinner party! My favourite celebration of food is feeding the people I love.
