What do you do all day at Time Out?
I’m the Melbourne Editor. I curate content and work with the editorial team to cover the newest and most exciting restaurants, bars, events and news stories in Melbourne.
How are you making the most of your time now that Melbourne is coming back to life?
Eating, drinking and seeing friends – preferably all at the same time. The spontaneity of life has more or less returned and I love venturing out to my favourite suburbs and just seeing where the day takes me.
What made you join Time Out?
When it comes to city guides, Time Out is the OG. I love the breadth of topics we cover, and how inclusively we do it. Melbourne is such a remarkable place to live and being able to share that with people on a daily basis brings me a lot of joy.
What international destination will be your first to visit when the border restrictions ease?
I will be en route to Lake Como for a wedding in August, so I’m mostly going to be saving for a European extravaganza until then. But if I can sneak in another quick trip, I’d love to go to New Zealand for a few days – I’ve never been!
Favourite bar, restaurant, neighbourhood in Melbourne?
I currently live in Carlton North and say to my partner on a regular basis that I would happily be buried there. Gerald’s Bar is our local, and a Melbourne institution at that. But if I’m looking for an exceptional cocktail, it has to be Black Pearl or the Everleigh.
Do you have a personal motto?
Not really. But I do pride myself on being very honest and I guess that’s kind of an ethos. I’m a Sagittarius, so make of that what you will.
A good story should have?
A purpose.
Top tips for how to get featured on Time Out?
Originality and authenticity are key. I don’t think it's imperative to appeal to the masses, sometimes niche and specific is best. There’s an audience out there for everything, as long as that thing is also good.
Plans this weekend?
My brother is getting married in a few weeks and this Saturday is my (soon to be) sister-in-law’s hens. I’m sure there will be a few too many cocktails that I will spend Sunday recovering from.
